Australia, actually “just the northeast corner” of the continent. I traveled to an international wetlands conference in Cairns and had the opportunity to explore a bit of the surrounding territory. This included the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, some immediate hilly county, and the eastern portion of the “outback”, i.e. west and over the hills from Cairns. The primary faunal species we saw were kangaroo’s, wallaby’s, and lots of parrots. Also got a blurry glimpse of a platypus. I need to go back as it is a very large country.
